This Week
Please note, this week, beginning teachers will not be in school on Tuesday (14 Oct.) but will be in Wednesday and Thursday (15 and 16 Oct.)
The theme of week 4 is effective modelling, and is part of an ITaP theme.
As in previous weeks, the theme will involve beginning teachers observing and teaching small groups. Trainees do not need to plan but should be directed by the class teacher in what they teach. Further details can be found in the Professional Development Journal which can be downloaded here.
Next Week
The beginning teachers will be in school on 21-23 Oct. (Tuesday-Thursday) focusing on the theme of questioning for learning. It is an ITaP theme, so it is important all trainees are able to complete all the tasks. Beginning teachers will again be teaching small groups that they do not need to plan for. Instead, they should once again take direction from the class teacher (please see PDAs 5b, 5d and 5e).
Week 6
During the final week of the LATiS placement, on 04 and 05 Nov., beginning teachers a required to observe lessons across the phase, from YR to Y6. Tutors will liaise with infant and junior schools to arrange times when beginning teachers based in one school can visit the other. These visits only need to be for one day as beginning teachers are to spend half a day each in YR, KS1, if visiting an infant school, and LKS2 and UKS2 if visiting a junior school. Please see the Professional Development Journal (p.21, PDAs 6a and 6b).
Science Day
All LATiS schools should now be aware of the arrangements for science day on Thursday 06 Nov. Please contact Julie Reynolds if you require any further information.
