Through mentoring for the University of Southampton Secondary partnership, you are eligible to complete our Short Course in ‘Mentoring and Developing Beginner Teachers and Mentors’.
The course recognises the training and development already being undertaken by mentors on our programme and does not require a large amount of work to complete it.
The diploma can be awarded to all mentors who have completed both Level 1 and Level 2 mentor training and completed a short reflective portfolio.
This portfolio is based on short reflective written or audio-recorded accounts of some reflective discussion activities which follow on from the above training. These tasks can be found in the outline document below.
This short course diploma is offered free of charge for all mentors supporting University of Southampton PGCE beginning teachers but is also open to colleagues not mentoring for us at a small charge. More information can be found here.
