Review Statement 4

The deadline for submission of the RS4 is 04 Jul., 2025 and the template is now available to download on the Review Statements pages. Trainees should complete these in detail, citing supporting evidence from their ePorfolios and academic literature, in consultation with their CMs who should then add their own comments.

The submission of RS4 is time critical because it has to be formally submitted by trainees through the university’s assignment portal by 1600 on Friday 04 July, 2025.

Please could we therefore ask trainees to ensure they complete their sections in a timely manor so that CMs have time to complete their sections and meet this important deadline.

However, please bear in mind that there is still plenty of time before the submission is due and a lot will happen between now and then in terms of the trainee’s development. These final weeks are just as important as previous ones and so some of the development and learning that takes place will need to be included in the review. Submitting the RS4 early is therefore discouraged and workload should be managed accordingly.

Weekly Reviews and Reflections

In response to feedback, we have decided that in the last two weeks of their placement, trainees will not be required to complete weekly reflections. This is to allow them plenty of time to focus on the completion of the RS4 instead. More information will be provided in future updates, but the format of the Weekly Reviews will also change to support the writing process.

Professional Tutor Visits

Final visits will begin this week. Further details of what to expect and how to prepare can be found on this page. Trainees must ensure their ePortfolios are up-to-date prior to the day of the visit. Discussions during the visit will focus on the evidence towards meeting the Teachers Standards available in their ePortfolios.

During the visit, trainees will need to make sure they have access to their ePorfolios, their teaching files and the iPads with the recordings of their formal lessons.

As tutors need to view at least one recorded lesson, trainees and mentors are reminded to keep as many recordings as possible for assessment during the professional tutor’s visit.
